A widely adopted Ethereum technical standard that defines a common set of rules for creating interchangeable, fungible tokens.
Applied: USDC, USDT, and DAI are all ERC-20 tokens; the standard, authored by Fabian Vogelsteller in 2015, made fungible token creation on Ethereum effectively plug-and-play.
