Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG)

A data structure used by some distributed ledgers in which transactions branch outward and reference one another without forming a single linear chain, an alternative to the traditional block-based blockchain model.

Applied: IOTA’s Tangle and Hedera Hashgraph both use DAG-based structures instead of a linear blockchain to pursue higher throughput for IoT and enterprise use cases.
