A form of zero-knowledge proof similar to a zk-SNARK but designed without reliance on a trusted setup and with greater resistance to quantum computing attacks.
Origin: developed by Eli Ben-Sasson and team, commercialised through StarkWare, which powers the Starknet Layer 2 network using STARK proofs instead of SNARKs.
