The degree to which a blockchain’s transaction history and rules are openly visible and independently verifiable by any participant.

Applied: any donation sent to a public charity’s Bitcoin or Ethereum address can be independently verified by anyone via a block explorer, without needing to trust the charity’s self-reported figures.
