Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI)

An identity model in which individuals or organisations hold and control their own verifiable credentials directly, without depending on a centralised issuing authority for every interaction.

Applied: the Sovrin Network and the EU’s evolving European Digital Identity Wallet both implement SSI principles, letting individuals hold and selectively share verified credentials.
