A state in which reversing a confirmed transaction would require an attacker to forfeit an amount of value greater than any potential gain, providing a practical, economically enforced guarantee of irreversibility.
Applied: Ethereum’s Proof of Stake design ties economic finality directly to validator stake — reverting a finalised block would require attackers to forfeit at least one-third of all staked ETH.
