Distributed Ledger

A database of records that is synchronised and replicated across a network of independently operated nodes rather than stored in one central location.

Applied: more general than ‘blockchain’ — Ripple’s XRP Ledger and Hedera’s hashgraph are both distributed ledgers that do not use a traditional chain-of-blocks structure.
