A ledger design in which a wallet’s balance is represented as the sum of its individual unspent transaction outputs, rather than a single running account total.
Applied: Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Cardano all use UTXO-based ledgers, in contrast to Ethereum’s account-based balance model.
