Confidential Transaction

A transaction structured so that the amount transferred is cryptographically hidden from public view while remaining verifiable as valid.

Applied: pioneered conceptually by Bitcoin Core developer Gregory Maxwell, confidential transactions later influenced privacy-preserving designs used in Monero and Mimblewimble-based chains like Grin.
