Block Propagation

The process by which a newly created block is transmitted across a network so that all nodes can receive and validate it.

Applied: the Bitcoin network’s ‘compact blocks’ relay protocol, introduced in 2016, sped up propagation by sending only transaction references rather than full transaction data to peers who already had them.
